attn tenderloin or other editors of ptbrainum's micro gates

PT ๐Ÿšซ

Tenderloin et all
I used to write as ptbrainum
I'm trying to track down the final chapter, part 5, of micro gates. I think i had you edit it for me. If you've got it, i don't have any of my old email address any more, and a massive data loss has cost me all my backup copies.
To prove its really me i can tell you plot points from the final part.

That's why a cloud storage backup (and backup drives you separate from your computer and put somewhere they won't be lost) is such a good idea. I use dropbox, because (cross my fingers), so far they haven't tried to sell my data. However, now that they're a publicly traded company, I'm not sure how long that policy will stand up to aggressive shareholders.

Of course, if EVERYONE (editors included) rely on the same solution, then you lose the double and triple backup that's often so essential.

I use both dropbox and local back-up on three different local drives.

And when you delete your gmail account, your cloud goes bye bye. Then things catch on fire. And you don't remember who you sent stuff to. And yes i made several bad decisions. But man i hope i can find that last part, it was great, but i don't think i could write it again.

Recovery from a nuclear war, teraforming then settling other planets, discovering and rescuing an alien civilization, the Kisselfolk become a full race, broadcasting a message to the universe from the center of the Galaxy. Can't wait to read it again!

Oh and finally post it too.

I was lucky recently. As normal, I had at least a dozen editing windows open at the same time, when the system crashed (I accidentally tapped the power button reaching for something). The first chapter I'd been struggling with hadn't been saved. But, when I went back, the story came together better than it had the first time, and reformulating it from scratch, I already knew which approaches didn't work and which did, which helps tremendously.

Several famous authors would rewrite each chapter (but especially the opening chapters) repeatedly, rewriting the entire thing until they got the ONE version which worked perfectly.

I've NEVER been able to do that, as I generally like whatever I put together, and I tend to dislike my rewrites, but I can see the appeal in the process.

That's fine, PTBrainum, but I can't send you Part 5 until I get your current email address.

:)

@PT

This is JIM7. I have Part 5, only. I have both the unedited and edited copies. You can email me at JIM7@fastmail.us
Unfortunately, I don't have any more of your work. I guess your luck is in, that I even have Part 5.
:)

PT ๐Ÿšซ

Jim 7 i sent you an email, thank you so much!

he's asleep right now, so he'll probably get back to you in a about 4 hours - his usual napability time frame. You should also ask him for the info on how to annoy him at his chat room. That makes it easier to track what he's doing.

And now - according to best practices - TeNderLoin should edit his earlier post to either remove the email address entirely or replace it with something utterly non-functional.

True, but I think he's hoping some will steal his identity so he can be issued with a new one that has got to be better.

He leaves that to editors.
Oh.

I see the story has now been (re-)posted, including chapter five.

@Dinsdale

Vlad, I don't care who has my email. If they annoy me, I have a block option in my email client.
Hehehee!!!
