Weekend Update - May 4 (Feedback - Jane Finds Herself)

Posted at

Hello readers,

Another weekend is upon us and there's plenty to do, so let's go.

First off, I'd like to thank those of you who've read the first chapter of Jane Finds Herself (formerly referred to here as Camping). I've really enjoyed writing this story and I hope you all enjoy reading it. It currently is five chapters long and spans the length of the camping trip Jane is on. There are plenty of twists and turns, with character moments and other fun events. Here's the thing, I would really like to write more chapters for this story. Unlike Snow Angel or Sheltered From the Storm, there's plenty of places to go following the conclusion of these original chapters, and I'm hoping to explore them.

"Then do it, what's the problem?" I hear you ask, well, views have been bad. Not since Teacher's Pet has one of my stories done so poorly out of the gate. The strange thing is, the score is high amongst those who've read and scored it. So the question is, what have I done wrong to 'market' this story? That's where I'm hoping some of you come in. I would ask you, those who've read it, and even more those who haven't, what I need to fix to make the story more appealing to more people. Is it the title, the blurb, or some other thing? I am hoping someone might have a suggestion to make this sexier to more readers. I know that's hard to do when all you've read is the first (slightly slower) chapter.

I have a lot of confidence in this story. I want others to experience Jane's first journey and hopefully many future adventures down the road. Please help me get there.

Ok, I'll move on. Sister's Servant is back for its' final run of chapters to wrap up Corey, Addie, and Tina's story. The plan was for four chapters, bringing the total to fifteen. Well, I ended up needing a fifth, so it will be sixteen chapters total. This will make it the longest story I've written so far. Do you prefer longer stories with lots of chapters or shorter, like three to five chapters? I'm kind of curious as I start planning for what comes after this finishes. I have a few ideas but I'm thinking of size and scope, should it be just a five chapter thing or plan something more... sizeable. I don't know, something to think about.

For next week (and the month of May really) we have Wednesday's Sister's Servant. After reconciling with his sister, Corey has a date with Tina. The plans of the date change when Tina's parents leave for a rare night out. This leaves the two lovers alone in a big house with plenty of things to do. Tina and Corey also need to figure out what to do about Addie, not certain her jealousy has fully gone away. Tina comes up with an unconventional idea.

On Saturday is chapter two of Jane Finds Herself. Shocked at what happened the previous night, Jane decides not to visit Curtis in the washroom again. She tried to rationalize her feelings and hormones as best as she can. A trip to the beach gives her chance to catch some sun and tan. She also catches a glimpse of Curtis' daughter, who does look identical to her. Where does this leave her, and what does it all mean?

That's it for this week. Again, any constructive feedback is appreciated. While I only write for fun, I do want readers to be entertained.
Thanks for reading and being so supportive on my writing journey.
