As an author, I have developed a thick skin. And I have taken the input, good and bad, to try and improve my writings. For those that have voted for my stories, regardless of your vote, thank you. But if you voted 1, could you maybe take a minute and tell me why.
I look at the 1 vote this way: major spelling and grammar issues, poorly constructed sentences, lack of focus, plagarism (and yes, I have seen an author almost word for word copy another). Fifty Shades of Gray merits a 1 vote. I personally can only remember giving a 1 vote and I followed it up with a nice note to the author because as bad as the story was, there was something there worth saving.
I am the first to say I am no First Kiss, or RCM, or Nick Scipio, or a dozen others that have made their mark in this space, but a 1 vote? OK, you didn't like it. Got that. But why and how, in your mind, can I get better? Because I want to get better. We all do.
Thanks for all the notes. Especially the reader that pointed out he would not read my story because there was a grammatical mistake in description (gotta love the English language where we slap an 's on every thing to make it possessive except it and who...anyway, that has been fixed). And it is things like this that make us better. Just keep it polite.
Thanks for reading, voting, and commenting. We all appreciate it.
