This is the story of John Edwards, a fighter pilot in WW1, his combat experiences, and his romance with Connie Butler, a Red Cross worker. Most of the story involves a little-known, but very important, battle against the German observation balloons. John's favorite method of attack came from my imagination, but it could have worked and made a difference in the war. Every infantryman in WW1 had nothing but praise for the guts of the balloon busters.
Yes, I stole the title from a very old movie. This story has nothing to do with that movie, which, incidentally, I have never seen, only read about.
