Chapters Eight Through Eleven are Posted

Posted at Updated:

The biggest news, at least for past FP readers, is that everything from chapter nine onward is all new content. Over six years, I think any author's style will change a bit, at least if they're trying to add to their abilities, but I made a conscious effort to try and keep my writing the same throughout. Hopefully, I succeeded.

My embarrassing battle with homophones continues, and I offer sincere thanks to the reader who pointed out my fumbles regarding "past" and "passed." I think I've got them all fixed now.

Finally, I'd like to say a few things about chapter eleven (I don't think there are any major spoilers, but you might want to go read it and then come back if you haven't done so already.) Originally, when writing Future's Path, I envisioned it as a fair-sized novella sufficient unto itself. In other words, I didn't make any plans for additional stories in the same universe. At that time, I preferred to only write short stories, and hadn't ever taken on a larger writing project. Since then, I've become more comfortable with larger works, and after a bit of consideration, decided to add to the FP storyline, in an attempt to make Gavin's and Elena's world a bit more complex. As a result, one of my minor characters became much more important to the story, and if I did it right, made things more interesting to the reader as well. As desired, it also opened up a lot of future possibilities, not to mention ways I can mess with my two major protagonists. That's rule number one of mine for coming up with an engaging storyline, imagine the worst possible thing that can happen to a character, and then do it to them.

As always, I hope you enjoy the latest installment of FP, and encourage you to send me a note if you have any comments.
