Backcountry

πŸ’– So the first 11 chapters of Backcountry have all now been posted at a regular 48 hour cadence and I just want to warn all my loyal readers whom I have been teasing with the cliffhangers that there's going to be a slight pause of a week or so while real life gets in the way.

But don't worry - lots of future chapters have already gone through the editor mill, and I'm pleased to announce that Gordon Johnson has joined Robin Pentecost to help me exorcise all the rung words and tipos.

Oh and I've finally surrendered and enabled voting, so if you've been waiting for that, go cast your awesome vote πŸ˜‰

Will Harvey and Mataoka survive and thrive in the backcountry?

Normally I loose interest in a story when the heroine gets the nerd... Everyone noticed that when the original Sixteen ended so abruptly? The lynch mob came out in force and made me extend it ;)

All my stories are really about the heroines, even if written from the clueless nerd's perspective. So, with chapter 5 just posted, now you know that Backcountry is really celebrating Mataoka as much as Harvey, eh?

I think they'll make a good team. I ought know what's up ahead, as I've already written it, but I don't want to slip out any spoilers ;)

But unlike my usual fare, Backcountry might just follow them on their journey through time together for a while.

So I've just spent ages carefully cutting and pasting individual chapters into the SoL submission system, and given a roughly two day schedule to it all. I hope I haven't messed up much - there's lots of room for human error in the SoL scheduled submissions process, I'm afraid :( You can't even see the content that is in the queue. Arrgh.

Anyhow, really loving the excellent comments, feedback and interaction I'm getting with Backcountry! Thanks to my editor Robin Pentecost for persuading me to stop posting stories in a single big lump and go over to drip-feeding short chapters instead!

Please keep up telling me what you think of the story and, if you like it, perhaps you might enjoy some of my previous stories? Some of them don't get any reads-per-week these days :( ;)

Happy midsummer!

Today is midsummer!

All across the Nordic countries people are celebrating traditionally.

If that conjures up images in your mind of Swedish maidens dancing and skipping around maypoles then ... you get the idea, that's really how it is!!

So how are you going to celebrate? Perhaps read a topical story? Perhaps my own "mid summer madness" story is just the kind of happy romance you need? ;)

Or perhaps you should go outside at midday and feel the warmth of the sun on your face?

If you're in the Southern Hemisphere, is it the middle of winter?

Me? I've gotta go drink my vodka and stay up until it gets dark!!

Robin Pentecost has kindly proofread one of my favourite stories - Mid Summer Madness - for us. I've just uploaded the fixed version.

Sixteen: now it’s really finished?

Posted at Updated:

After the baying fans demanded I continue on from chapter 11, I have just posted another few chapters and hopefully left the story in a more conventional "happily ever after" place.

Hopefully an opportunity now for some of the lower scorers to reassess the points they gave me? ;)

And already there have been some calls for a sequel, Seventeen! No pleasing some people ;)

Thanks for all the feedback and comments, I really appreciate it and especially like it when people relate how the story makes them feel about the characters and the choices they make.

Enjoy and thanks for reading!
