Clarification: ARC vs. SOL version + Updates

Posted at

My team and I take the feedback that readers of the ARC version of the Stupid Boy stories seriously. A recent example was that in the ARC version of the book, David had hired Cal - Pam's father - as his lawyer. Readers pointed out how crazy that was, so we changed it.

They also find numerous errors that help us provide a much better read on SOL.

There is also some confusion about the process. While it is true that I do not post stories before they are done, that does not mean that we are done editing them. After the ARC version is done we send it to TheMikeBomb who gives it a serious edit. It is then sent to BudUgly who gives it one, if not five, more read-throughs.

The week I post a chapter on SOL it is given to me the Wednesday before. I read through it again. Of course, if I make changes, I send it back to Bud because my editors know my limited capabilities. I'm in charge of stories, not making it readable.

That is the long way of saying that I do not have an updated version of Part II as of yet. I won't have one until we are done posting on SOL.

To be honest, it will be in individual chapters and not a whole book format. I won't even look at it again because of the other stuff that is going on. I am suggesting that if people want an updated version to wait until the last chapter is posted on SOL and then download it from SOL. They provide several different formats that are compatible with most e-readers.

Currently Working On:
- Rewrite of The Chosen into a full-length novel for Amazon. Added close to 20,000 words to make a complete story.

- Working on the final edits for the Amazon version of Junior Year Spring, and shortly, Summer.

- Edits for all the changes that readers have suggested for Senior Year Part III (Which will begin posting on SOL at the end of May and there are some major changes)

- Started writing the first book in The Better Man series that will follow David through college (tentatively shooting for 4th quarter)

Almost Done!

Posted at Updated:

I just finished writing chapter 35 of the last book in the Stupid boy saga. As I sat back after hitting the send button to my editor I got a little emotional as anxiety clawed at my guts like a cat in a wet bag.

It's been quite the ride. To see the light at the end of the tunnel is daunting. At times I wasn't sure I could keep writing about the same thing and keep it interesting. I'm sure some of you gave up. I want to thank the ones that stayed with me.

This all began as a writing exercise that soon got out of hand. I've learned so much about writing over the last few years. I still have a long way to go, but I can now at least put together a coherent sentence. I read some of my first stuff and squirm, like spider-webs catching on your face, to see what you all suffered through.

I see only two or three more chapters and I will be done with Senior Year Part III.

I plan to tip one back as a nod to the end. Almost Done.

Happy New Year!

Taking Down Some Stories / III Update

Posted at

Next week I'll be taking some stories off of SOL. I wanted to give you a heads up in case you wanted to download them before that happens.

There is a combination of reasons that include rewriting the story with a different plotline, to expanding the story into a full-length novel, to it just wasn't up to my standards.

Story List:
1) The Device
2) The Chosen
3) Sell Anything On Craigslist
4) Getting it Wrong

Update On SB Sr III: The original plan was for 26 chapters and I would be done by Thanksgiving. I'm now starting Chapter 33 and have about five more to go. At a minimum, the ARC copy won't be ready until mid- to late-January.

Thanks

New Story for Thanksgiving Holiday

I had an old PC that crashed and had some of my early stories on it. I finally was able to save them. To be honest, I was a little scared of their quality, so I sent them to my editors to read. I was told one or two might be salvageable.

As a side note ... I apologize for my earlier writing. For many years all I wrote were business reports, which tend to be formal in nature. I didn't know what a contraction was ;-)

Thankfully, Bud Ugly is a glutton for punishment and cleaned up my story - The Device.

It's a story about a geek who lusts after another geek and then there are cheerleaders (that is mandatory for any story IMHO). Oh ... and there is a device.

If that description doesn't get you excited(more likely confused) ... LOL.

Five chapters. One posted daily starting on Thursday.
