Celebrity time!

Posted at Updated:

I have managed to get up to date now, and this chapter represents week 18 of my reign, which started exactly 18 weeks ago at the turn of 2014. A special person has replied to my invite to attend my palace!
Rose McGowan: yes, it's 'the' Rose McGowan! To introduce an element of realism and fate for my own amusement, I rolled a die to select which of the 6 celebrities I wrote to would accept my invite. A '5' or '6' means they reply, so a 1-in-3 chance for each. I was a little disappointed when it turned out only 1 replied, and if truth be told she would not have been my first choice. I really wanted the great Naomi Watts, the lovely Zoe Perry, or the simmering Carice Van Houten. I know very little about Rose McGowan, actually, but a friend suggested her for my list. Now I am saddled with her. She's coming in 2 week's time. I'll have to do some research. I'll attempt to write up a chapter that portrays her character and dealings with me in a credible way.

Chapter 10 Misogynist

After falling behind schedule this week, C10 is up a couple of days late. It feels like being the Emperor for real, with manifold duties in life pressing on me! Some controversial thoughts in this one, and candid young sex, but sensitivity too I think : - )

Chapter 8 Misogynist Emperor back-changes

Chapter 9 is now added, but I also made some alterations to chapter 8, small but important for the context of 9. Namely, I've made the character of the US oil baron into a peer from my school days in England. Most definitely not a 'friend', though, and never was! Minor edits to some of the Maidservants descriptions of chapter 8 too, but their characters are unchanged.

Page-breaks

Success! Don't know if this will work for everyone, but I made sure I hit only the return key after a paragraph (not holding the shift key with it, which is necessary if wanting a new line but no empty line between). Then key in the page-break '*****' editing a webfile in google Chrome.

Hit only the return key before keying in a page-break!

Another thing... only do this when editing the webfile, but NOT in MSword before you've converted it into a webfile. Also you need to close and open the newly converted file before doing the line-breaks.

Simple! (we'll see if it works out for the next chapter).

Page-breaks advice

Chapter 6 of Misogynist Emperor is up, but with my usual struggle to get the page-break lines where I want them! Does anybody else work with microsoft word (for the editing) and with google chrome for uploading the final HTML document, and know how to guarantee the page-breaks will emerge where intended on site?
Is it something to do with pressing the return key in editing to make the gaps between paragraphs, or incorrect use of shift+return? I'm flummoxed. It seems like random chance whether I'll get it right, although I don't have any problem with making neat paragraphs and spacings - it's just the placement of the page-breaks (I want them to look like short centralized lines on the site).
Often what happens is my upload comes out as having -- AT THE START of the paragraph that should have the page-break BELOW it!
Anyone encountered this problem?
