I don't know what happened to Chap. 1 of Richard, but it's neither what I wrote, nor what I posted. I have requested the Webmaster to delete it. When that's done I'll go over it and (try to) repost.

Thanks to the dozen of you who wrote to me.

What's to come ...

I hadn't expected the response to either Kipling nor that there was (only) one more chapter to "Sam."

So, to appease you all, my current plan is:
(a) Complete "Sam";
(b) write the tale of Gordy's parents [bridging "Andy" and "Young Gordy";
(c) eventually return to Sam's life.

Please keep in mind that I am an old codger who only began "Laverton" after retiring at 65.

"satiable curtiousity"

My apologies to those of you who wrote. In Kipling's "The Elephant's Child," we find "there was one Elephant-a new Elephant-an Elephant's Child-who was full of 'satiable curtiosity, and that means he asked ever so many questions."

I used this in Patrick's youth (after Gordy buys him the "Jungle Books"), and assumed that people would recognize the Kipling.

I'm just an intellectual snob.

I know that I ought to be writing about Richard, as he is/was/will be Gordy's father. But I have begun a different end of history: Sam. I expect to post around Tax Day (15 April in the US; 1 May in Canada). This gives me a bit of leeway.
