Feel like bitching

90 lbs. not anymore!

My moniker no longer fits. I should change it, but the hope is there. I'm still a load of Dynamite, just a lot more of it. I hope to return to my once slender waist, small round butt, and tight body. Jo tells me I'm just fine the way I am. I want to believe her. But, shit, I can see me, and the me I see, well, it makes me none too happy.

All my activities now require long hours of sitting. Writing, work, both are now stagnant pursuits. I supervise at work, seldom go into the field, and have tons of freaking paperwork. At home, I spend my time ghostwriting or writing my work. Jo and I watch tv for one hour a night. I do exercise, but not enough.

I'm happy with my life, not happy with my body. I either learn to accept it or find a way to change it. Just saying, I got no one to blame here.

"Want a second piece of cheesecake."

"No, thanks," Jo responds.

"I wasn't asking if you wanted one, dear, I'm asking you to pass it to me."

Until a year ago, I never weighed more than 100 pounds. Now I can't even spell one-hundred-pounds. Well, I can, I guess, as I just did. Still, it should have another number between the one-hundred, and the pounds.

Sorry, I just felt like bitching for a minute.

Coming soon to The Sheriff of Spiny Cactus County

The next Eposide's first draft is completed. It needs a mild rewrite and a lot of read-throughs and corrections before I post it. It does, however, introduce a new character. The protagonist, of our tale, is the villain, and what story doesn't need a good hero if you have a villain? So, our hero, our main antagonist, is introduced into the story in Episode Three.

Christian Blackheart is a flawed hero at best. However, he is, in some ways, equal to Sheriff Thornton Lang. His origins are, somewhat, of a mystery. Though he does give you a clue, here and there. He is also quite old, though he doesn't look it old. And when I say old, I do mean old.

With a vast intellect, Reverend Blackheart has battled villains for decades, more than decades. He has more than a passing acquaintance with the supernatural. And just as the Sheriff has employees and followers, so does Blackheart.

Blackheart is blessed with an immunity to the mental manipulations that have allowed Sheriff Lang to prosper. He's come to Spiny Cactus County to put an end to Skinwalker. Blackheart walks a thin line, weaver between good and evil, trying to atone for past sins in a life long ago and far away from the 1980s of Spiny, Arizona. His darker nature tugs him one direction while his better angle pushes the other.

Watch for the next Episode of Spiny Cactus County -SCARECROW- in the next few days.

If you haven't started the story, this is a good time to catch up with it so far, The Sheriff of Spiny Cactus County.

SPITTING IMAGE

In June of 1981, Sheriff Thorn Lang's tenure reached its sixth month. The Sheriff's exercise his will over the county, expanding both his power as sheriff and his operations on the other side of the thin blue line. But all is not smooth. An inquiry by the state police into the death of his father caught the attention of one Leonard Slye, an investigator in Arizona CID. Len's incessant questioning of residence of the city of Spiny threatens to pierce the veil of respectability of Lang. Whatever is driving Slye, greed, a serious dedication to Law and Order, or perhaps demons of his own soul, must be brought to light, if Thornton Lang is to defeat his newfound enemy. Then again, Lang might just destroy the man outright, why fuck around with deceit when you can just demolish the bastard.

The Sheriff of Spiny Cactus County One more try

One more try. Sorry, I found a ton of little things wrong with my editing as I read through the first Episode of The Sheriff of Spiny Cactus County last night. Therefore, I re-posted the corrected version. To answer a question from another site, that some people may be asking here as well, a spiny cactus is another name of the prickly pear. The prickly pear cactus is also known as Heart of Arizona when the leaf is in the shape of a heart.

An unfortunate side-effect of re-posting the story is it lost the title a the top of the first page. Oh well!

If you haven't read it, I hope you do, if you have read it, you might want to pursue it again. The Sheriff of Spiny Cactus County

Musings on the origins of The Sheriff of Spiny Cactus County

Recently, I started looking up the mythos of Native American Tribes. I have always been fascinated with story of horror, those concerning the supernatural have always been my favorite. I don't know that I was looking for a new story when started my research.

With that said, for quite some time, I've been thinking of writing a villain as a protagonist. A rotten scoundrel, who's soul is filled with vile wickedness, who doesn't view himself as bad.

Last week, I returned to a bookmark from my readings and again read about Skinwalker. A being so vile, the Navajo will not talk of them. They don't even say the name, either in English or Navajo fearing they would be cursed for the utterance.

How can you not love something evil that just speaking its name is a curse all by itself? As this story unfolds the, 'Present Day' portions are chronological, while the flashbacks may end up all over the place. The first and second parts (Episodes) are mostly flashback. After that, the flashbacks are secondary to the here and now.

Special note: There is no County named Spiny Cactus in Arizona.

Enjoy: The Sheriff of Spiny Cactus County
