Forerunner Foray

Had a nice email from someone who reminded me that Forerunner Foray is a title of an Andre Norton book.

It is - of course and a very fine read. My apologies for not acknowledging it in the first place. My story may share the name, but is in no way related to that great tale.

Well, here goes. . . I have enough to begin posting again. Not sure how often I will post chapters, and I typically keep them fairly short.

So. . . I moved over 300 km (200 mi) to a new city and started a new (most excellent) job. Clearly no time left in my life for story writing. But I do have through Chapter 9 written and will return to it when I get some free time.

Thanks for the kind encouragement.

So begins another tale. . .

Well, the bug has bitten again. I just started a new Blockade Runner story. I'm going to do it a little different this time. I'll write ahead and not start posting until I'm well into the story and almost finished. Last time I found areas where I wanted to add to previous chapters and since I had already posted them, it was problematic. Not sure how long I'll take, but likely a month, maybe two. Check back!

The end?

My first try at writing a fiction story has been completed. I really did enjoy the experience and found that at times the story seemed to write itself. I was particularly blessed with many fabulous emails from readers that sent encouragement.

I was very pleased with the emails that compared my modest efforts with some of the SF greats. While I appreciated them, I know that my efforts paled in comparison. It was very heartwarming to get them nonetheless and indeed, those stories were the type of SF stories I cut my teeth on as an adolescent.

I'm going to take a bit of a break before I start/post a new story for a couple of reasons. First, writing is time consuming and at the same time, I felt compelled to write. My chapters weren't overly long, but I was churning them out every couple of days. It is surprising the amount of time it takes.

Thanks to Jack for such a good job at proofreading and making this story better.

Thanks so much to all of you for your support.
