'The Legend of Eli Crow'
Chapter Fourteen:
Duncan's near miraculous recovery from his head injury, takes a turn for the worse.
Judge Parker arranges for him to travel to Little Rock to meet a surgeon from St. Louis, whom Judge Parker knows personally.
Eli and Jefferson travel with him on a steamboat to meet the doctor. Once they have Duncan checked into the hospital, they decide to get a bite to eat.
Some of the residents of Little Rock, Arkansas make the mistake of ridiculing Jefferson's size and Eli being Indian, dressed in buckskins.
“By God, I didn’t know there was a circus in town. I see we got an Injun with a badge wearing a toy gun, and a midget in here.”

I've submitted Chapter Thirteen of 'The Legend of Eli Crow'for posting.
Chapter Thirteen:
After the rescue of Duncan, he is told by the young doctor he should be OK to travel. He and Eli head south with a wagon load of prisoners. Hamp Noonan complains that he should at least get to speak to his young wife before he's taken to Fort Smith for trial.
When they pass Noonan's homestead, Eli stops to ask Hamp's wife if she wants to see Hamp. Alma Noonan lets Eli know in plain terms that she's not interested in speaking to Hamp or her daddy. All the while she's talking, she's tying bags of clothes on a saddled horse. She leaves Eli standing there as she rides off in a hurry, in the opposite direction.
Eli takes the opportunity to search the fancy Noonan home and finds much finery. His diligent search uncovers much more than finery, as he discovers the need for all the keys Hamp had carried. Riding south to catch Duncan, Eli stops to tell the men building the second house, that they'd better leave before they too are arrested. He has second thoughts and offers them a job that turns into two jobs.

Chapter Twelve has been submitted for posting.
After Eli meets with his Cherokee friends to close the land deal they had agreed upon, he ignores his own warrants and rides northwest from Tulsa in search of his friend.
He knew Duncan should have returned from his trip a week ago.
Duncan had met with trouble.
Eli had tried to put off this feeling until now. As he rode northwest along the Arkansas River toward the central Kansas border, an ill feeling came over him. He suddenly felt alone, now that he'd accepted the fact that Duncan was in trouble, or maybe even worse.
He finds evidence on the trail that proves his ill feelings were real.
By the time Eli rides into Parkinsville, Kansas, he's not sure Duncan is still alive. His anger turns to rage, even before he knows for sure.
Someone in this town was going to pay, if he had to kill them all.

The Legend of Eli Crow
I have put together a cast of characters for this fictional story and submitted the file for posting. This is a long entry and I hope the formatting remains as submitted.
Below the cast of Characters, are many links to People, Places, Events, and References, used in the research of this time period.
I hope this will be useful to those who have been following this story.
Part Three of Eli Crow is all but finished and there are 46 chapters to date. The story and the characters have taken over and forced me to write a Part Four. Hopefully, it will be finished before the Chapter Forty Six (46) has been posted.
Thank You Sincerely
J Ryter
