Chapter 37

“Where did you get that name?” she asked me.

“Hum, at this point I’d rather not say, but is it true you do business with him?” I asked.

“Yes, oh! Damn, you are sneaky. Dusty, please be very careful, he is not a man to trifle with and with your gift, he will know,” Anne told me with worry evident in her voice.

“Yes, I believe he will but perhaps not for the reason you think,” I told her.

She gasped, “He did have it, oh my goodness! Dusty, that medallion may not always act to limit your use of magic just for good. The man who had it was able to do some very evil things.”

I chuckled, “Anne, I believe it came to me because I act for good, and I have Justin to make sure I do. He is my soulmate and my conscience. Perhaps it may be a bit more lenient in grey areas of the law, but I get the impression it will never force me to do bad things.”

“Yes, but how does you medallion feel about you being linked to Justin?” she asked me.

“It helped me save him, Anne, what may have been done to it in the past, I felt its pleasure and contentment when Justin received his, and I’m damn sure the two of them work together, to help us,” I told her.

Ann replied, “Lora’s husband was a fine man. Hum, Lora said the medallion really wanted to go to Justin. Mayhaps the guides were meant to be together. I know for a fact that if the items are paired, they do not like to be separated.”

“Some pairings are stronger than others are. My own is like that. My husband and I can’t be separated for very long before we must be together again. It can be a pain at times.”

“I think these two are similar, Anne, but more tolerant or possibly they understand that our jobs may force longer separations. Because I can mind-talk to Justin, it will always make it easier for us.”

“Anne, Justin and I were in love before he got his item, but I must say that they sure do enhance our love and make it stronger, if that’s possible.”

“No, Dusty, I think it’s your love that makes them stronger. The guides can be very sensitive to how you feel about others. You do have to be careful if harm comes to the one you love and that you don’t act in anger.”

“Your guide may be less likely to restrain you if it is also attached to their guide. If you are as strong in mind as I believe, you can overrule the entity, and it won’t restrain you like it should.”

“Thank you, Anne; I shall keep that in mind. It looks like the team has turned up, so I had better do some work. I’ve really enjoyed talking to you, bye.”

The conversation with Anne left me thoughtful.

The highlight of the next two weeks was Bindy and Aaron turning up.

They arrived two days after I talked to Anne. The family in Alpha-IV were delighted to have them join the nightly meals. Justin did give Aaron a bit of ribbing about being caught, but he just grinned at us. We don’t think he fought really hard to get away. Bindy was a pretty awesome lady.

Sarah and Mark were delighted to have a third young couple of similar age become part of our group. Mark was the odd man out, with the rest of us being MPs but he had done some military training and had even been a shuttle pilot while he studied Management Law, so as far as we were concerned, he fit right in.

For me personally, I now had some really amazing friends. The girls did embarrass me on occasion when they laughed at my blank looks when they did really girly-girl things. It was scary for me learning that this was how other girls thought and acted.

Justin told me he loved me just the way I was, but he didn’t complain about the additions to my wardrobe. He took just as much delight inspecting and then removing them from me. He didn’t protest about a few other things the girls taught me either since he benefited as well.

He just told me I could experiment with his body all that I wanted too. He probably shouldn’t have given me such a licence, as I took him at his word. I did enjoy his gasps and reactions as I perfected a few new ways to give him pleasure. His responses heightened mine, so we both benefited.

Sarah had chuckled one night and informed me that we Aussies had created a very unusual situation. Having five Detectives from one country in a division, let alone on Luna, had never happened before.

Mark added, “No, it’s worse than that, you are all bloody Cane Toads.”

“Ah, honey, you can’t help being a Cockroach, but I do still love you,” she told him with a hug, while the rest of us cackled with laughter.

For the uninformed, Cane Toads are the mascots for the Queenslanders Rugby Union players and Cockroaches are New South Welshmen. The two states have had a competition called the State of Origin that has run since 1980.

The mascots for the states had long since maintained the adoption for the residents as well. Poor Mark was seriously outnumbered in this regard just being in the Connors family, but he was a good sportsman and of course, promised that there was always next year.

Simon, Darla, Hendrik, Nikolai and Carmel were not happy with the addition of Aaron and Bindy. LTC Paulo Rodriguez, Oliver, Sarah and Warana West’s team were happy to welcome them aboard.

Oliver was even happier when Sarah’s partner was rotated back to Earth earlier than expected, due to issues at home. Paulo overrode Simon and moved Oliver to Warana’s team.
