After the inevitable rise in sea levels across the world in 2015, the political situation entered a stage of recession as people struggled to survive in partially submerged cities. The status of these cities ranged from being completely drowned to only partial flooding. However due to large amounts of farmland being flooded some nations became unable to sustain themselves. No government establishment remained popular especially do to their lacklustre attempts at improving the situation. This led to a variety of measures implemented. In western cultures such as America, creating distractions from the evident problems and transparent attempts at rebuilding the shattered countries took precedent. Eastern nations such as Russia and Arabic countries turned to harsher measures after at first, aid attempts but then to marshal law once the popularity of the government decreased rapidly

All measures failed in no other way but utterly as full scale riots and even in a few places rebellions broke out. As some nations could not sustain themselves such as Britain and Italy these saw a mass exodus of civilians to safer places

However as the governments around the world fell in status, by 2020 the economies rose in phoenix like fashion from their shattered position. These rose faster than anyone could predict as companies made profits in selling materials for rebuilding, ships and huge amounts of aid resources. These were sold in massive quantities at discount prices which could be done as the market was so large. This led to the power vacuum from the governments being filled by mega corporations winning popular support globally. Out of this shift in power the national identity began to fade away in place of corporation type houses showing status and importance. The Chinese economy rose the sharpest and eventually destroyed what was left of the governmental establishment by 2035. Spurred on by the set example many nations also faded away in less than an honourable fashion.

From 2035 to 2050 the economic powers scattered throughout the world and its colonies ruled all life. Even in Mars the great MonDragon Corporation had almost monopolised the colony industry outside Earth against the Exodus Corporation in the American landmass and the Rhacni Corporation in the Asian landmass. These three superpowers funded private armies, fleets and expeditions to unexplored worlds. Historians call this period the golden age, however some revisionists dispute this and label it as the age of corruption

The aggressive nature of the free markets though eventually came to a huge fall in 2050 when the corporations clashed together creating essentially an economic war across the Earth and its colonies. The war was on every front with millions perishing in subterfuge actions to pitched battles on Earth, Mars, Lunar and a few fringe worlds where expeditions clashed violently. After a period of warfare between the houses a full market crash occurred causing a humanity wide depression and hyper-inflation. When the market empires fell, the stage was set for the Federation to emerge and seize power after a power struggle rivalling any that had gone before. Later on the Imperium would split off
