Chapter 5C: Matumbo’s Plan

Despite his youth of merely 19 years, Matumbo exhibited the qualities of a patient and strategic individual. Faced with the unplanned events of the day, he engaged in contemplation, carefully assessing the occurrences and deliberating on the course of action he would undertake with his enchanting teacher in the moments that lay ahead.

Just as before, Matumbo issued a firm decree to his two accomplices and his associates from the schoolyard, sternly instructing them to refrain from any interference with Sylvia. A stringent directive was laid out: no one was permitted to lay a finger on her or take any action without his explicit consent. Although met with protests and grumbling, they reluctantly acquiesced, fully aware that opposing Matumbo’s command was not an option. Matumbo’s reputation loomed large—renowned as the most adept combatant in the vicinity, a key figure in the local gang, and possessing connections with the corrupt local police, courtesy of his uncle. The palpable fear of Matumbo, coupled with his notorious violent temper, left them with no alternative but to comply with his directive.

Matumbo grappled with the concern that the unforeseen events of that day, especially the encounter with the policeman, were an unbearable ordeal for anyone to endure. Sylvia had been subjected to public humiliation by the policeman, who employed his baton as a tool for the degrading act of sodomization upon her.
