Author's Description:
The early morning sunlight glinted blindingly off the silver wings of the huge jet as it cleaved a path toward the sun. Fittingly, the light reflected off the jet's wings poured through the small window next to me and lit up the silver paratrooper badge on my chest. Reviewed:

It has been a long time since I first read this story, but when I saw it pop into the feed, I knew I was definitely going to read it again.

The story itself is about a "country" Georgia boy who ends up as a Green Beret in Vietnam. It goes through the trials and tribulations of his early days in the Army, but the meat of the story is about his time "in country".

Plot: The plot is pretty stereotypical "boy meets girl, joins the Army, goes away to war, etc." (like most of Joe J stories), but somehow keeps your interest though dogged adherence to the "Joe J story formula" and character development.

Technical: There were a few too many "to/too/two" type errors for my taste. If I had to suggest something it would be that he could benefit from a good grammar checker program. (I'm not even sure if those were available when this was written).

Appeal: Based on Plot and Technical you might think I didn't enjoy the story. Nothing could be farther from the truth... I loved it. It is a very enjoyable read and comes HIGHLY recommended!
