Not all literature is pleasant and some works push boundaries. Entertainment comes from not only joy and humour but from fear and disgust.
A well written piece will transport you into the story and hold your attention as the author guides your mind around the plot.
Their intention can be to intrigue you, to humour you, and for you to share in the emotions of the characters.
Their works can make you laugh, make you cry and you empathise with the characters.
Some authors want to arouse you, disgust you, anger you, make you feel uncomfortable yet hooked. Find yourself there and you’re immersed perfectly into the plot.
But remember. No matter what you feel, if you feel anything whilst reading fiction, you’re being entertained.
