Aimless Ramblings: Favourites

1: Eyeliner by Henrik Larsen
Long drawn out stories are fun, but every once in a while, it's nice to read a well written short story. Henrik Larsen does a marvelous job with this one, and give him credit where it's due, would you ever have thought of basing a story around an eyeliner? AR
2: The House at the End of the Street by A Strange Geek
I love this first installment in the Haven universe. Maybe it's because so much of what's going on is still a mystery, or maybe it's because A Strange Geek does such a great job of bringing his characters to life, or maybe it's just the hot sex. *grin* Yeah, the other Haven stories are fun too, but this one will always be my favorite. 3: Looking Through the Lens by Ryan Sylander
I began reading this story when Ryan Sylander started posting its sequel, Depth of Field. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Matt's adventures because the background of his life and family was introduced slowly, giving me time to understand and like him as a character. He was also completely believable as a teenager, struggling with challenges and impulses he barely understood. One of the side plots involved his sister, Lara, who was a cool character in her own right. Her attraction to Matt was evident early on, but instead of falling into bed together in chapter two, Lara just teased Matt throughout the story, and they never consummated her obvious desire. It was a great tale, hilarious in places, sad in others, with just the right amout of hot sex. Read and enjoy. AR
4: Once More With Feelings by The Night Hawk
The funny thing about this story is that it's been on SOL since 2004, but I only just now discovered it. I don't have room here to list all the reasons why I gave it a 10, but I'll list a few. It's a doover story, but unique because their are actually two people living through the doover, a boy and a girl, and they've switched bodies. Unlike some other doover stories, the time frame covered is not their entire new life, but instead, seven months told with beautiful detail. This is probably the number one reason why I enjoyed the story so much, the fact that it wasn't told in the outline style that is so common here on SOL. The main character makes changes, no doubt about that, but they are believable achievements that a fourteen-year-old could make. Even better, The Night Hawk doesn't simply focus the story around three or four primary characters, but instead introduces a supporting cast of unique and interesting people in their own right. Read and enjoy this great story, I did.
5: They That Have Power - Book I by hermit
This story surprised me because the explanation of how Jake, the main character, acquired his ability, lasted for longer than half a page, and the sex scenes didn't start right at the top of page two. Hermit took his time introducing Jake and the world he lived in, and by the time he was done, I was hooked. I strongly recommend this entire series, and my only regret is that Hermit hasn't added to it in far too long. AR
