Rich Girl/Poor Boy or City Girl/Country Boy?

Updated:

I'm looking for romantic stories of people from two different upbringings, modern times or close to it, who are unsure if they can make it work and have ups and downs in their relationship.

Nothing too long and I'd prefer completed stories nothing incomplete or in progress.

Opposites attract I suppose but with an income disparity.

Try Ozark Life by Dual Writer. https://storiesonline.net/s/14566/ozark-life

He also wrote another winner, Recluse and the Ghost, that fits your request. https://storiesonline.net/s/71089/recluse-and-ghost

As a matter of fact his series, Florida Friends, could be a match -- oil rig welder meets busty hard working girl and all that follows.

A couple of obvious candidates by Jay Cantrell.
- https://storiesonline.net/s/63874/unending-night - there is also a sequel, a l-o-n-g sequel.
- https://storiesonline.net/s/13709/runaway-train - although it violates your "nothing long".

Edit: I'm having problems with your "nothing long" - it is difficult to shoehorn your requirements into a short story, most of the candidates *are* by necessity long.

Another long one from Jay:

She's a nouveau riche bitch and campus queen, she thinks he's a nobody. In reality her life is one repayment away from repossession while he is old money with wealth and power.

@Dinsdale

Thank you but I've read everything by Jay Cantrell. I've been hoping he would return and write a new story but I am not going to be too hopeful.

@Radagast

Thank you too!

Not exactly what you requested but one trope on SOL is the girl who goes off to become a rock/pop star then years later runs into the boy she left behind who has lived a normal life since they parted.

Thank you, I've been wanting to read more stories focused around music/acting/entertainers.

Well, the last two of those five are from JC. I know a couple of stories where the male MC became a "big rock star" while the female did not. Here is the better of those two, although it does not really fit your original criteria that well.

Here's a twisty one. She's a city girl, a travelling business lady. She's married to a typical city boy. Unfortunately she's also married to a farmer with old fashioned country values...

Well, I have a series about that, actually called "Country Boy, City Girl". And a lot of it is about the "fish out of water" feeling as he moves from rural Idaho to Los Angeles.

However, it is a very long series. Four books so far, a fifth in the works, and 10 short stories. And yes, most of what you describe is in it. Income disparity, not sure if his relationships will survive, and ups and downs.

But the first 4 "books" are complete. The short stories are mostly vignettes told by other people but in the same "universe". Sometimes even the same event, from a different point of view. The newest "book" actually starts about 20 years after the first, and involves a different main character.

Hi Mushroom, I tried but the story is too long for me. I just don't have the attention span I once had, insomnia has destroyed it. Thank you though.

insomnia has destroyed it.

Yep. I know that feeling well. I hope things improve for you.

I tried but the story is too long for me.

I admit, that one turned out so long even I can hardly believe it sometimes. And I wrote the damned thing.

It is really just a case of what was intended to be a single chapter short story, that simply ran way from me. Originally I posted it as complete at the end of the first chapter, but a day or so later found myself picking it up again and continuing.
