The second one (of the Kenn Ghannon stories) contains a particularly awful concubine-abuse scene.

I had a rant on this forum a while ago complaining about authors who put in disclaimers about upcoming scenes.
However, I'm keen to find out what scene you're talking about (so I can either not read, or skip) I've read a bit of the second book, are you talking about the girl's rape by the street gang she belonged to before even being picked up? Or is there a worse scene of the institutional abuse that occurs because they are "property" ?

One of those books is up to and including the pickup, the second one starts at that point.
The second one (Fairly CAPable) has a chapter detailing a vile case of concubine abuse, the best that can be said is that she survives it. I've just had a quick look and it is chapter 22.

Good word choice 'vile' I hate reading about women being abused with no redemption

If you look at the story comments made around the time that chapter was first posted - assuming they are still there - you will see a number of protests.
There were also some complaints early on about the story being too slow, tough.

The sequel is a lot better - and more "notable" - than you think, things happen there which are part of "canon".
Edit: But is starts off slow, and with a very heavy dose of incest.

I've usually got a pretty good memory for details, so if I don't remember something I'm never quite sure why. Sounds like I just saw that this was out but never actually read it.
