So far all the cheating stories I've found are where the SO leaves for another man. Only one that fits a bit of the critera is QM's Of Loss and Remembrance but that is more a "happy incest fuck" story.
I know I've read at least one or two around here, but danged if I can remember titles.
Question: would MC in a triad with two women who then decide to go exclusive without him count, or is that too far out of parameters?
That would work, I'm still researching break ups of all types as I concoct my own ideas. Essentially want situations where the male MC is broken up with and hurt by it.
I've seen both variations of that plot a couple of times here - husband being dumped by wife for woman, wife being dumped by husband for a man - but in each case this was just "historical" background to the events in the story.
This has also happened near me in real life. A man went through his college years as flamboyantly gay, then - under pressure from his wealthy family - found a woman, married her, two kids, then left her for a man he found on the internet. The youngest child was maybe two years old. The wife had had no idea about his past although *his* family had to have known.
He was closely related to my ex-girlfriend - but not closely enough for her to have known - and I subsequently got to know someone who had studied with him. The university was 50 miles from his home and the family saw him often, they had to have known.
Edit: What happened next? He had moved hundreds of miles away, the wife was essentially adopted by the family. No idea if she remarried or how the family would have related to that, this is via my (very) ex-girlfriend. One messed-up clan.

Dang, I've seen it IRL (from a much removed distance) but it would be tough to live through or be close to someone living through it.
I'm trying to read a lot of permutations of "break up" stories and I've seen quite a few woman cheats on husband with other man/man's best friend/man's brother but not with a woman.
One of sister's boyfriends cheated on her with a man. I didn't like that relationship from the beginning, long before, just for how it shaped her. She knew he was, let's say, of bohemian lifestyle, suspected him of cheating already and would consider forgiving him having another girl in parallel, but finding it was a man crushed her in ways I wouldn't have guessed. Basically it winded down to "there's no way I can compete with that."
I'm sorry for your sister and I hope she finds peace with what happened.
At the same time, I'm struck by how different people react differently to the same stimulus. I would be absolutely crushed if my wife cheated on me with a different man, but if she cheated on me with another woman I'd take solace that it wasn't about me, it was about her.
No worries, it was like, over quarter a century ago. She then fell for her history teacher (but I failed his English lessons anyway).
