naix82 ๐Ÿšซ

Hi. Would anyone recommend stories of a boy, coming of his age, discover/is revealed to his family secrete or something like that. Thank you.

I'm going to suggest a few stories that start in the teen or late teen years and move on from there.

Top of the list are Banadin's Richard Jackson stories. No longer on SOL, available on Amazon.

Tom Frost has a couple:

Elevated is set in modern times with the Roman Republic still around and kicking, but based in Brazil and slowly reconquering Europe. A pleb boy is adopted by a successful general and elevated to the patrician class.

The Billionaire Life / Too Much Love sees the adopted son of a small town vet turn 18 and find out he is heir to a multi-billion dollar trust fund, with a world spanning extended family that plays internal faction politics to the literal death. He's also heir to a propensity to mental illness and addiction, both of his parents died while self medicated.

Vulgar Argot has a series of stories:

Murder, rape, intrigue and inheritance and first relationships are all included.

The Grim Reaper series by RLFJ doesn't have a family secret, but its definitely about the journey from boy to man to father, with lots of action along the way.

Argon's Suddenly Rich Kid has a teen MC whose single mother is a prostitute. When she is arrested he is taken in by his father's family, who are rich. Dad never knew about him.

Rep's Footlocker has a young man's parents killed just before he graduates highschool. He befriends an old woman who later makes him her heir. Her wealth is based on nazi loot that she and her husband 'liberated'.

For one with a somewhat science fiction bent.

The Light Behind the World by Sea-Life.

First in a collection of stories.

May I suggest The Scot's Gunslinger. In this twist on a theme, the young man is the one with the secret that is eventually disclosed to a significant other.

How about Jay Cantrell's Unforgettable Weeks? It's probably worth reading the much shorter first story of the series, Unending Night, to get the backstory first.

Welp, I see Dbuck belongs to the Cold Creek school of plotting: kick the MC while he's down, then as he stumbles back up curb-stomp him harder.

Welp, I see Dbuck belongs to the Cold Creek school of plotting: kick the MC while he's down, then as he stumbles back up curb-stomp him harder.

Entirely appropriate if the intent is to write tragedies.

What I find annoying along this line is spend 80% of the story stomping the MC into mush and then in the very last chapter miraculously hand the MC a happy ending.
