Actually, we get very few recommendations in the Recommendations Forum; but there are two on-going serials that I would like to recommend: "Double or Nothing" by Argon and "American Teen" by Aaron Stone. The first is set in the mid-1800's during the Crimean War. It's the story of an older man of some wealth who has to take care of the widow and child of his son who was killed in the war. The second is a typical coming of age story that is very well-written and stifles the "inner critic" in myself and those like me. Read them both; I think you'll enjoy them.

G Younger has a new story in progress: Conclave. It is up to is usual standards, and so far is an interesting tale.
QM's current story 'The Healer' is also in progress. An interesting sci-fi with some very real characters, but in the flavor of the space operas like Doc Smitha Lensman series.

Update: prologue has teen bashing knife wielding attacker with basketball trophy. You sure this story isn't another meaningless teen sporting hero getting girls?

No, but so far the protagonist has only played with friends and it's a minor part of the story. And so far he hasn't been a slut, although he's made friends with a few females.

Perhaps I shouldn't have recommended this story so early, but I've really enjoyed what I've read so far.

Yeah it's got a great vibe to it. Somehow it reminds me of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil wit, but I might be mixing up books I haven't read in years.

Perhaps I shouldn't have recommended this story so early, but I've really enjoyed what I've read so far.

I actually got a copy from his website some months back a greatly enjoyed Conclave much more than I do Stupid Boy.

There are suggestions the protagonist has sporting prowess - basketball gets a mention - but attracting media attention from them would be contrary to he protagonist's backstory.

I have noticed that recently, 4q's has taken to just posting four 4q's recently on threads. I'm not sure what the point of that is. Maybe the individual would like to elucidate?

The correct way to do this is to post a meaningful post which e.g. asks if anyone has more details, or (pointlessly) asks people to stay on-topic. Failing that, your 'bump' works (if a bit rude), but you should then delete it - IIRC the forums still updates the datestamp on that thread so it gets sorted to the top of relevant lists. An odd few posts like that are OK, but overuse is rather rude and shades into abuse which could be reported, potentially leading to banning from SOL.
