Reconciliations

Quasirandom ๐Ÿšซ

I'm looking for stories about a couple reconnecting and reconciling after a long time apart. "Back to Bristol" is a perfect example. Jay Cantrell's "Outsider"/"Flawed Diamond" also fits, but not (as much as I love it) his "Runaway Train".

Other examples please? TIA

Lazlo Zalezac's Fighting for Family? It kinda applies. Also, it was one of my least favorite aspects of his Service Society.
Now I'm trying to remember other stories where I completely objected to the MC making that particular mistake...

@bk69

I'm stalled halfway through Service Society, partly because it's looking like reconciliation isn't looking likely, though mostly because the bitterness dripping from every scene is hard to swallow. I'll try Fighting for Family. Thanks.

@Quasirandom

No, in Service Society he definitely makes that mistake. It isn't quick, though.

Fighting for Family was exactly what I was looking for โ€” thanks again. (And I wasn't disappointed by that part of Service Society. Other parts, some, but that thread fit exactly.)

Thanks. That looks like a good possibility.

If you like that, here are a couple more by the same author:

Terrible Taste in Tees

Let Go

@whisperclaw

OTOH, while Terrible Taste in Tees was both funny and a good yarn, I wasn't sold on the reconciliation. I wanted more both more emphasis on how Bree hadn't trusted him and more details of the process of how Chris came to trust her again. Boston to Birmingham handled both aspects much better.

@Radagast

Only finally got to this one โ€” excellent story. Thanks again for the rec.

How about,

The Way Back by Always Raining

Alisha and Alison Found by Andyhm

Never Too Late by expresso42

Calculating Nemesis and It's Gill With a 'G' by Texrep, although the latter story is marked as Incomplete and Inactive it seems there was an issue with posting the final chapter and it looks complete to me.

and an entertaining (well I thought it was!) quickie,

It's Five O'clock Somewhere! by Denham Forrest

It is good, but I have long felt that it is incomplete, it seems to just stop rather than be finished.

@Tw0Cr0ws

The final couple scenes were rushed and several possible threads of continuance dropped, but the author did make an effort to wrap things up rather than just stop cold. I liked it otherwise, though.

@ringill98

A lot of those look like exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!

The Way Back by Always Raining

And circling back, this exactly fits. It's almost a perfect companion to Back to Bristol. Thanks again for the recs โ€” time to work through the others.

Adding to the list, in case anyone else is interested, Rejuvenated is another reconciliation story with no cheating, so right up this alley.

There are 10 stories with the Reconcilation At All Cost tag that might be a source for you. The two authors most prominent are oldgrump and Brayce Hart. Their offerings might be useful to you.

A couple more for you, for some reason I forgot Always Rainings Ok? and there's also ...

The Tree House Book 1 and Book 2 by AJ Martin.

For Old Times Sake by The Wanderer.

edit: first link de-borked.

Coo - thanks.

(Psst! Your first link is borked, but I found the story by searching.)

Ok? and For Old Times Sake both fit the bill perfectly. The Tree a house ones match the stated requirements but didn't work for me as stories. Were worth finishing, but, meh.

Another good example of the genre: Her Apple Pie by Argon (who generally is always worth reading).

Two stories that are related to Her Apple Pie also are good examples.

Can't Pick your Family

In Her Genes

In neither case the breakup was caused by cheating.

@AmigaClone

Can't Pick Your Family counts. In Her Genes, which I just read today, I'm not really sure does โ€” it reads like a short-term breakup by two kids who needed to grow up a bit. Both good stories worth reading, regardless. Argon is one of my three favorite authors on SOL.
