Anything great?

Pretty sure I've read everything on this site that's worth reading over 1k kb. I've been through most of the author recs and the long story list as well as refs I've seen on forums. I did drop quite a few because the story sometimes just make me dislike characters. If I dislike the lead for more than a few chapters then I probably dropped it. Just wanted to check if I could have possibly missed something or under rated something before I start looking elsewhere. I've made a few of these posts in the past looking for things and I think I've gone through all the recs at this point. (Small chance I would reread something so if you think I should reread something let me know since I have a difficult time determining what I actually like to reread or rewatch)

You could help any potential helpers by listing things that you may wish to avoid, and/or listing a few things that appeal to you... By providing a framework, you will increase the quality of the returns.

Why was this thread reactivated? It had been safely dead for around 20 months.

New stories are posted on SOL every day. Not all of them are going to be to your taste, nor mine. However, there are lots of decent stories, and a few good ones that are posted monthly.

Use Advanced Search and slightly vary the terms you use.

I keep finding stories I didn't know were there because the author phrased their description differently than I phrased my searches.

I recently found a very well written story about an officer who served in the US Navy during the 1980's and 90's. I don't like cuckold stories, but it's not a squick of mine. While the story was about how a man's life was ruined (and how he dealt with it); this re-write of the story focused much more about his naval service, and even his civilian career after his service in the US Navy. In this version we learn how the man was cuckold, and in desperation he turns to an old Navy buddy...

The story then focuses on how a number of people he met during his naval service come together to help him get justice. There was no indication that this is a "military" (Naval) story in the header nor the Tags. I don't recall what caused me to click it open, but in the first paragraph it describes a man trying to "power through" a bout of PTSD. In the second paragraph I noticed "LTj.g." (abbreviation for US Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade) and the story engaged me with a several well-crafted vignettes of naval service.

I would not have sought out this story. A key word in a search brought it to my attention. It was a random find, but once again I found a story I wasn't looking for that quite entertained me.

I don't remember when that was added, but it was not always available.

Occasionally I go back through my own stories, and add in new tags that had been added since I write the story. However, not all authors do that.
