It's not just unlikely, it's impossible for a number of reasons. The color of the child's skin does not make them any less mixed. The genetic donors will have been mixed to begin with except under some extreme circumstances.

South Africa had a similar rule. Even 'white' people with a black parent were classed as black.

That was true for the most part. Black, white, Asian, didn't matter if the mixing part was Native American. Any mix was considered Indian country wide until the 1940's. Even then, it was the mid seventies before that 'mostly' went away. I guess it was considered the lowest common denomination.

Logically, being mixed race should be a huge positive. The merging of two or more diverse sets of genetics should do great things for the immune system.

Hybrid vigour is great for improving the species where natural selection (or selective breeding) can eliminate the individuals who've inherited more deleterious genetics, but unfortunately in humans we simultaneously spend resources on preserving and ensuring the ability to breed of the individuals who wouldn't have survived, and, by requiring those resources to be provided, reduce the viability of the rest of the population. Selective breeding, but selecting away from improvement.

Indeed. It took perhaps tens of thousands of years before one of our ancestors figured out "hey, round stuff rolls!", and made the first wheel.
