Searching for a good story about a news reporter

"Good story" is defined as one you liked. It is the story that is good, not necessarily the reporter. The reporter could be a general news reporter for a small newspaper, or an obituary writer for an even smaller newspaper, or a beat reporter for a larger newspaper, or any of any number of other assignments. Any reporter, any place any time - but notnot science fiction, not zombies. Not looking for a political rant. Could be like Clark Kent or like Clark Gable (I remember him playing a reporter in some old movie) or like Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday. Or like the guy who raised his window and shouted "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore." Preferably on SOL.

Question: Has Ernest Bywater read all the stories on SOL and remembered the characters and story line of all of them? Anyway, my thanks to Ernest Bywater for this list. I shall endeavor to read them all.

Only a small portion of Wes' stories are on this site, most of them are only to be found on his own Spearfish Lake site.
Mike McMahon is the name of the reporter in Wes' stories, although he often has a sidekick who he is teaching responsible journalism. In the very early stories he was the sidekick but he is pretty much always present.

The Omega Path

Story revolves around a TV reporter, her roommate/sidekick, and s young boy with a bizarre superpower. And lots of other superheroes get to know them. (note: some political ranting)

Jay Cantrell was a newspaper reporter and editor. Finding Shelter is a good read about a middle aged divorced newspaper editor as the internet begins to take its toll on the print media.

Thank you. Finding Shelter is a favorite story of mine, but for some reason I did not recall that he was a retired newspaper editor.
