if not for the 'his' specification, I'd have had more than a couple suggestions.
But even so.. that's a tough one. I vaguely recall a story where the heir to a criminal empire is forced to return and take over... there was a series from ronin74, and I'm almost certain Ka Hmnd had one or two MCs who took over such organizations, but someone working their way up? It just doesn't seem to be popular.
Which, considering how long it's been since The Sopranos first aired, is odd.
