Beauty reversal stories

I want recommendations for story novels where the world changes and the sense of beauty reverses. The most beautiful people in this new world are, in our normal point of view, incredibly ugly, and the opposite also happen where good looking people are actually very ugly in this new world. The protagonist enters this world with his sense of normal beauty, and he has an incredibly ugly appearance.

Would be more interesting if the protagonist was 'old ugly, new beauty' and of course all the 'new beauties' are interested in him but he is much more interested in the 'new uglies' as he sees them as beautiful.

Exactly. This way, with his normal sense of beauty, and his ugly appearance, he can get any "ugly" woman. In his old world, he was ugly and virgin. In the new world, he is like, idk, more "handsome" that Nicholas cage.

I know it's not what you asked for, but there are a few stories around where the protagonist dates ugly girls - that may present a similar form of conflict to what you're seeking. Gordon Johnson's stories about a character named Reginald is one example.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I believe it varies over time. In the 1920's flappers were much different shapes than Marilyn Monroe. Today's girls are somewhat different than her and the other stars of the middle of the 20th Century. Various geographical locations affect what the local population thinks of as beauty. Northern climates require different clothing than in warmer climates. Consider grass skirts in Polynesia with breast coverings being a western idea and what Finnish girls and Inuit (they don't like "Eskimo") wear. And size matters, very short girls have different ideas than basketball players. If you can be a holder, your idea of beauty may change.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

A beholder is a type of monster from Dungeons & Dragons.

What was typically in their eyes was death.

That pun is so overdone that there was an episode of the old D&D cartoon based on it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Perhaps apiarists have better senses of aesthetics than others, so beauty is in the eye of the beeholder.

Sonohi Sekai ga Kawatta is a Japanese novel that does exactly what you're asking for. It's been dropped, but there is a fair amount of chapters out there. Google the title and you'll find them.

There is a twilight zone episode titled "The Eye of the Beholder" first aired November 11, 1960 where the ideal of beauty is very different than the current one.

I liked the TV series "The Munsters" where the hot blonde Marilyn is considered ugly by the rest of the family.
