The Benefit of Friends is the first one that comes to mind. I didn't particularly like it, but it was mostly because I got hung up on the fact that the two protagonists doesn't have names. It's not a big thing, but personally, I think it makes characters more real to know their names and appearence, not to mention that it got confusing at times to know who's speaking when it's all "he/she said". But yeah, other than that, it's about friends since birth that fall in love, so you might like it.

Damn, now I can't remember the name of a really good story that follows this theme. The guy and girl grow up together and she shows up on his doorstep after coming home to find her boyfriend cheating on her. Later in the story he winds up pushing her out of the way of a tree falling on. It's pretty sappy, but basically exactly what you're looking for but now I can't remember the damn name.

Only Yours

It's his only story that I know of and as far as I know it is not on SOL, only that other site. If he also posts here it is under another name which I have not found.

That's it, thanks that would have driven me nuts.

- Jay Cantrell's "Runaway Train".
- Peter H Salus has his Gordy and Weena series. Their son is introduced in "And Baby Makes Three" and his relationship with Rachel is spread over several stories but qualifies.
- rlfj's "Grim Reaper".
- bfrap's "Making the Most of Our Second Chances".
- Al Steiner's "Doing it all Over" just about qualifies.
- Openbook's "Beside the Brook of Sorrows".
- a couple of Wtsman's stories.
- a couple of Don Lockwood's stories (shorter ones).
- it is a frequent theme in Wes Boyd's "Spearfish Lake" tales but many of them are no longer available on SOL.
- Jeremy Spencer's "And Then She Kissed Me".
- Sea-Life's "Echoes" and "Columbia".

That should give you enough to start off with.
