I'm generally in the crowd that thinks mind control stories are lazy but i have been wondering if there are any mind control stories were the mc is "reluctant" in using his power? Maybe he shares his secret with people or just doesn't use it for personal gain? Are there any stories like this?

It was a while since I read it, so I might be remembering wrong, but The Addicted Natural comes to mind. Three Square Meals aswell, though the mind control is in the background and not a big theme really.
