story about talking with animals

Mr Castle

I would love to read a story or series of storys where the main character can actually speak with animals and they can reply. I also realise that there is William redman carter but that only barely covered this subject I would love a more indepth story?

There's always Dr. Dolittle.

Mr Castle

True but an up to date story that's on SOL?

Try 'Wizard, a love story' and the subsequent stories, by misguidedchild
Even if the communication with animals isn't in the style you seek, they are excellent stories.

Sean David Kilpatrick Flynn - book 1 of wizard a love story

Thanks I've already read them. They are great stories tho.

It's funny that you should mention it, but I'm planning (not yet started) a modern rendition of "A Boy and His Dog", tentatively titled "And Bowser Says …", featuring an apocalyptic event with telepathic animals (who know what's about to happen) and the humans they need as hand-monkeys. I'm hoping for a nice mix between terrifying and humorous.

Also, the next story I plan to post, "The Demons Within" doesn't involved talking animals, but does involve someone who speaks with invisible alien creatures about the size of a flying lizard. (Close but no cigar, I know!)

There is one story on SOL about boy who found a (super?)dog in desert during family trip in RV to some (chess?) tournament, but can't remember neither name of story nor author. Maybe someone else can remember it.

And - there is always legendary Anne McCaffrey and her Dragons of Pern universe. I think you still may buy her dead tree books everywhere :)

Who'd ever think to search for the most obvious title?

Actually, the funny thing about this is I read the story 2 days ago after finding it on a category search for Mystery - No Sex stories.

Magic by Lazlo Zalezac. The second part, More Magic, is still work in progress but not longer marked as inactive.
