Is it necessary for the downtrodden protagonist to find a sugar daddy or might they find their own way to redemption?
The Weakling by Dbuck is incomplete.
A funny bowl of custard's 'Tapestry' series springs to mind but there's probably too much sex and the series seems to have been paused for a worrying amount of time.
Some of Rhiannon57's stories might appeal.
I'm enjoying 'The Shocking Truth Book 1' by somethin fishy and there's no sex so far.
Is an isekai redemption acceptable? There are a number of recent so-so-ish translations of oriental-origin (my guess) stories which might be worth trying.
ETA: Two more suggestions - writer 406 for his quadrilogy of stories about disadvantaged young men making their way in life. And, a bit left-field, Vincent Berg's 'The Holes Binding Us Together'.

Tried a few of these and thought they were copies of those horrible facebook reels that were deluging FB Feeds lol.
