TT/FP-no help

ralord82276 ๐Ÿšซ

Looking for Time Travel / Far Past stories where MC just has his intelligence to work with ... no help from aliens, no transported with vehicle/trailer full of equipment, no special knowledge/expertise with time period or with grass-roots reconstructing of the industrial revolution.... just Joe/Jane Average conquering life without a "Deus ex machina" of equipment or knowledge.

Dead tree example: The Earth Children series by Jean M. Auel.

However, not looking for Dead tree stories at this time. Specifically asking for SOL stories that fit this profile please. Thank you for any assistance.

'I fell through' series fit:

https://storiesonline.net/series/1765/falling-to-the-past

Although the 3rd book is unfinished as the author wrote himself into a corner. What started as a good go-back-to-the-past series turned into a feminist fantasy shit in the third book where the protagonist's wives were leading him by the nose.

The first two books are good though.

@John Demille

Unfortunately, it is Premier atm ... so I have added it to my list for future reading when I splurge on a sub. Thank you for the recommendation.

I believe there was a similar quest on the forum not too long ago. I have no idea how to find it so you can see if any of the recommendations interest you.

Aubie56 has a story about a man sent to the west somewhen between 1500 and 1900. He speaks Spanish and is good at MMA. That's it. The title was something about a rabbit hole.

Thank you for the link. I reviewed the list and I have read a lot of the stories on it already. There are some that are Premier that I have added to my future reading list for when I get a sub. Also there are a few listings where either the author is still on SOL but the story is missing or the author and all of their stories are missing.

I read the first part and part of the 2nd part a while ago. And if I remember correctly, it does start off along the lines I stated (no special equip/knowledge) but at some point they start getting a lot of equipment in a storage cave and it is jam-packed with virtually everything...and keeps getting expanded with more stuff. I finally gave up on the story for just that reason...every time they needed equipment or a map or weapons or anything, it seemed that the storage area "magically expanded" with the items needed or the map appeared etched into the wall at the back of the cave... and the cave kept growing bigger/longer to accommodate this expansion. I finally just said to myself, enough... this story is not progressing, it is just a way to see how many times they can pull rabbits out of the same hat and still keep readers.

lol I thought I might have just tried reading that story but checked and I didn't. This one is from 2015/2017 and the mc starts with everything and then some, and the aliens give him more and more after he's started, pretty much anything he can think of! Didn't help that the mc over explained everything to the local cave people. I didn't get half done before I gave it up and I LOVE time travel/do-overs/new beginnings etc!

Close to what you are looking for is Spook Light by SW MO Hermit. High school boy gets sent back in time with normal camping gear, canoe and weapons.

Also close is Teacher also by SW MO Hermit. Army Medic gets sent back in time with the same type of things.

I have read both and both are good and exactly along the lines I was hoping for. Any others by chance? :-)

If you haven't already, you should check out Cmsix. About half of his stories are unfinished, but most of them are time travel, or MC sent to another planet that is in a stone age culture. Sometimes he has tons of gear, sometimes not. The author sounds like he was a serious pack rat. A one week hunting trip might need his truck/camper, a Horse trailer, with saddle and pack horse, three to five different rifles, several handguns with quick draw holsters, shoulder holsters, reloading gear for the several THOUSAND rounds of ammo, a SECOND trailer with grills, shovels, rakes, pushbrooms, welding gear, hammers, nails and probably a partridge in a pear tree!
Still, some of these people have minimal stuff.

I am pretty sure I have read all of his TT/FP stories already. I did enjoy them ... at least up until I hit the incomplete barrier on a lot of them. I know, I know...some people are never satisfied...lol.

Hawk, the Stone Age Spirit Guide by Paul Phenomenon is literally what you asked for -- the time traveler even lacks his body.

Never fear! I have that one marked on my future reading list for when I get a sub since it is Premier. Thank you for the recommendation.

@samuelmichaels

Thanks for mention Paul Phenomenon. One of his other stories was the reason for getting premier...but CRS struck and forgot. Your comment sparked the remembrance.

If others would mention the authors when giving the names of the stories that they recommend, I and possibly others would appreciate it.
