I stumbled across a cmsix-inspired story, over on AMZ.
It's "Oops: Reality TV, sort of", by Gorg Huff. Huff is a "real" author, albeit usually found as part of a team. He has been published, repeatedly, by Baen Books, paired with Eric Flint (often) and Paula Goodlett (always).
The story is available on KU, and if you've ever read any of cmsix's alien-time-travel stories, you will immediately recognize the setup: medical condition, aliens, time-travel, luggage limit, clever trick.
The remainder of the story appears to be Huff's creation entirely -- I am not trying to suggest that the work is plagiarized. But even after so many years, I felt like I could predict 90% of the first couple of chapters.
If you're a fan, and you have access to KU or some other mechanism for getting the story, check it out. After a chapter, the only thing you'll miss is any reference to Wolf Brand Chili and the MC bitching about his ex-wife. Oh, and "titties."
