Ka Hmnd has several, The Destroyers by Monbade, Island Mine by Refusenik, all on SOL. There are a lot more I just can't think of them.
In dead tree there is Mutineer's Moon by Weber, one by Jack McDevitt A Talent for War?, Jack Chalker had several.
I can't NAME any others off the top of my head but I know there are many I haven't mentioned. Dammit my books are packed away and I want to dig through my archive now.
Good Hunting, limab
Thanks Limab! All your suggestions will be good for a re-read! I know there are others on SOL as well, as I've probably read them, but my memory isn't what it used to be.

MisguidedChild has a crashed spaceship with the alien intelligence taking residence in a human brain. https://storiesonline.net/series/1161/evolution
GreyOldWolf has an old guy finding a spaceship.

It's been almost a year since the last update of Blazing Star, and GreyOldWolf's last blog was about the same time. Anyone know if the author is still working on it?
IIRC he lived in the Philippines and suffered a direct hit from a cyclone around the time he stopped writingβ¦.
I just got a message from GreyOldWolf yesterday, he is still alive and is trying to get back to writing, we may get more Blazing Star chapters in the future :-)
SW MO Hermit has a guy living off grid & finding a crashed alien lifeboat.

Zoras has two stories with alien ships. The Spark has the traditional 'ancient alien spaceship in a cave' trope towards the end. Interesting but very dark in parts with slavery and nuclear war.
https://storiesonline.net/s/60078/giants-in-the-sandbox also has an alien spaceship in a cave, this time at the start, new and inhabited. The MC is a pedophile, psychopathic murderer. I was unable to finish the story.
Some time back I bought I Won a Spaceship by Harrison Park as a nook book at Barnes & Noble.
Had to look but thought I might have it already...and I do! Will re-read again. Thanks for the reminder!
Jamie McFarlane has a couple Kindle series that qualify. I didn't care for Junkyard Spaceship personally, but it felt like a lot of the stories referenced here. His series Privateers Tales was more to my taste, with a couple of kids living in the asteroid belt helping to foil a pirate attack and being awarded their ship. With one ship two ships, then four, then bases and people to help, and so on and so forth.
Ok, you led me down that rabbit hole, and to donate (via the Big River corp) to the author to fill my Kindle with that series ( Privateer). Good sci fi series and technically well written. Don't regret reading.
Ka Hmnd has several stories about the protagonist building a functioning ship out of scrapped/junked ships.
All's Fair by Thenovalist is shaping up that way, great story with many threads of which the spaceship aspect is not the main focus
