Souls

NC-Retired ๐Ÿšซ

There are two currently running stories that feature souls as a major part of the overall tale.

https://storiesonline.net/universe/1159/a-true-history

and

https://storiesonline.net/s/29898/from-the-journals-of-michael

Are there other stories that you know of that also feature souls as a significant portion of the story?

Thanks

'Three Square Meals' by Tefler mentions souls being exploited for more powerful spaceships via a soul forge.

'Dominion' and probably others too by Sage of the Forlorn Path.

Vincent Berg, Invid Fan and 'A Carpenter's Son' probably wrote stories in which souls played an active role.

Gina Marie Wylie has a couple that I can recall. On this site, Will You Do This for Me? has souls playing a small but important part towards the end of the story, and on her own beyondthefarhorizon site is her story The Soul Stealers.

The series Variation on a Theme by Grey Wolf one of the major factors is the existence of Souls, and a Supreme Being. The MC was an agnostic, with a conservative Christian upbringing; but joined the Unitarians later in life. He experiences things that cause him to believe in a "Soul" or something like that; but not have definitive answers.

I am a believer, a Christian, but perhaps unconventional. The author seems to believe similar to his MC something like an agnostic/diest. Yet his story is excellent for posing a variety of morality tales and matters to consider. Wrapped in a well written and entertaining story!

While the MC and other characters discuss Souls, there is no definitive answer in the story, and may never be.

Still, I think this may be the best story on SOL that features souls as a major plot point.

A man gets murdered, his organs are transplanted, so his soul gets to hang around as he is not quite dead.

I'm pretty well convinced that if there are such things as souls, they were all created in the beginning, and we long ago used up/outnumbered the available supply.

How else can you explain politicians and lawyers?

Ooh! Now that's an interesting concept for a story. Just ignore the part about the lawyers...

So there are maybe one million REAL people. People with 'souls'. And sometimes, they can recognize each other.

OK, that's it. I can't think of the rest.

Not angry at all, according to the old tale:

Old King Cole was a merry old soul,
And a merry old soul was he;

A soul is pissed. In the US, pissed=Angry.
