Looking for non-human MCs

I'm looking for stories on SOL where the primary POV is not (and has never been) human and doesn't want to be. Both SF and fantasy work for this, as do both constructs and just being another species. Published examples include (for SF) The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, Ancillary Justice series by Anne Leckie, the Charnur books by C.J. Cherryh, (for fantasy) the Books of the Raksura by Martha Wells.

(Note: no transformations into nonhuman please, so no Kaire or MORFS.)

I know Dragon Cobalt has a story with a half-orc narrator. What else?

Hmm,
did you mean Kaire?
Ka Hmnd's Kaire are a nonhuman feline race already existing several ten-thousand years when first met by humans. They can't interbreed with humans (except the humans get genetically changed). In all stories there is no mention of a transformation.
He wrote one story where a mad scientist transformed some humans into catlike creatures which were ported into the far past on another planet to become the ancestors of the Kaire.
In none of the other stories anyone of both races knows of this.
Here are some titles where the MC is a Kaire:
Agronomist, Cat in the Dark, Cat in the Trees (a Kaire on Addison's World), Clan Peacekeeper, Conifer, Flying Cat, Hunt Society, Hunting Deviants, Leading the Clans, Lost Clan, Lost Kaire, New Discovery, Predators in Paradise, Rogue Kaire Hunters, Royal Exchange, Snow Cat, Stray Cat, Strike Leader, The Mark of a Warrior, Warrior of Nor.

Ah, yeah, I did typo Kaire, but apparently that was a brain-fart anyway. I did read some time ago a story in which the MC does get changed into a cat-person, and apparently conflated that with the Kaire stories. My bad.

So, yeah, ignore that…

There was one story where the MC's Kaire friends transferred his, I guess engrams for want of a better word, from his human body into a blank Kaire body they had created (the how was never mentioned.)

the MC does get changed into a cat-person

Could have been Catseyes by Ka Hmnd, a story about super-soldiers:

Ten thousand of us were created and trained. We were the front line soldiers, the shock troops. [...] Out of ten thousand only a few handful survived. Our DNA was dominant so any girl we got pregnant would have a catseye child.

I believe it was Adopted by Kaire where he was changed it to a Kaire.

That's probably the one I was half remembering — I think it was the first Kaire story I read, in fact.
