Do authors chose names that begin with S&M because their stories include spanking? Examples, Smiley Smith (double S&M) and SmokinDriver. There might be an anagram of D/s (domination and submission) in the latter names capital letters.

One of the tags is Light Bondage. I wonder what dark bondage would involve. Or is the subject tied with thread or cord rather than rope or metal bonds?

There are more than a few pen-names that include the name "dragon" often with a color as a prefix. Could it be their stories drag on?

That would make them pun names not pen names.

I chose my pen name as a take on the title and main character of my first story.
