Editor/Editors needed for Accidental Merlin

nadleeh ๐Ÿšซ

Hello, my name is nadleeh, i am looking for editors for my story Accidental Merlin.
This has been my first ever story, and i never expected this amount of positivity. I have posted 19 chapters so far. which is 64K words. The response to the story has been amazing. but there are mistakes in the story. I am writing and proof reading everything myself, but I need help
I need someone to read through the previous chapters and correct any of my faults.

Might want to provide some details about the story, so prospective editors can know if they can handle the subject matter; editors have their squicks, too.

As well, it will make it more likely to attract editors who were knowledgeable and interested in that area; as with all things, the greater the appeal to the individual, the greater the chance they'll stay the course.

Yes, they could go look at the story, since you've provided the title, but there's a greater chance of that happening if you provide some details up front.

A baited hook catches more fish than a bare hook; there are more writers seeking editors than editors seeking writers.

@JohnBobMead

there are more writers seeking editors than editors seeking writers.

Is that true? It seems to me that SOL's list of volunteer editors is longer than the number of authors who have appealed here for an editor.

FWIW I've been following 'Accidental Merlin' and it's an enjoyable romp. Thank you nadleeh.

The impression I've picked up from following the forums is that a lot of the entries for volunteer editors are way out of date. I may be wrong on this, I haven't actually looked into it, but that's the impression I've gained, that a number of them aren't actually active anymore.

@JohnBobMead

That could be true, just like authors disappear from SOL without warning. Perhaps Lazeez could implement a warning system to annotate the entries for editors who haven't logged in to the site for a certain timespan, or alternatively sort editor entries in order of most recent login.

Before the first entry on the page that contains the list of volunteer editors there is a note

Editors that have not checked-in in the last two weeks are not shown.

@AmigaClone

Thank you, I missed that :(

Way cool!

I didn't know that, obviously, or I wouldn't have shot my own foot in public.

I should have realized that Lazeez would have something in place to assure currency in that list; he's so on top of everything else.

Of course, it would have helped if I'd actually looked at the editors seeking work page.

For those logging in regularly, about once a month the system automatically asks everyone listed as an editor to review their "Hours Available". It accepts zero hours available as a request to be removed from the current list but to retain all details of the profile.
I'm sure Lazeez has any loopholes covered adequately.

Some very different questions may be whether editors respond if contacted and will find the time if asked.

Most editors rely on you finding them on the list, checking you fit their stated requirements, then sending them a message asking for help. Few of the editors check the forums. I've got four editors and the only time I've seen three of them here is after I sent them an emails drawing their attention to a particular thread. Thus a request here is not likely to be much help, although it may be.
