@Dominions SonAs usual, context is everything, as the larger context was of someone telling a terrible pun, so they're teasingly 'encouraging' him to continue with his tale, by playfully booing his puns. However, I didn't want to duplicate the entire scene, just to get the proper punctuation to use for the one sentence fragment.
For even more context, often, when someone's in a REALLY good mood, they tend to get a bit 'giddy' and thus make silly puns just to loosen the mood. And thus this is hardly a formal lecture hall recital, it's playful banter between familiar lovers, or in this case, a lower or two, AND their family who now being older, can also appreciate the playful banter too.
The older kids don't want the explicit details-which seems to be what you always zero in on (with your seeming single focus on the most inappropriate conduct), but they still enjoy teasing the adults while staying above the more embarrassing details.
Sometimes, a pun is just a pun!
