I have a dozen serials I read, and to open any story on the list, I middle-click to open it on a new tab in the browser.
When I am finished with the latest installment, I close that tab and return to the list.
I don't know much about what goes on behind the scenes, but I assume the cookie or whatever is updated with the last read chapter information.
Here is the weird bit: It seems to be a crapshoot how that is recorded, or how it is implemented in my browser (Firefox 94.0.1).
The next time I access the story from the Reading Queue, it might open at the top of the last chapter, it might open at the bottom of the last chapter and it might, though very rarely, open up at the top of the new chapter I want to read. I have not noticed any trend in how or why it does this (Comments on or off, voting on or off etc).
Any idea why the behavior is erratic? Definitely NOT a big deal, obviously, but I noticed it again today, with four installments, where three opened at the bottom of the last chapter and one at the top of the last chapter, and it made me curious enough to post.
