Sometimes the mumber of stories for an author shown when looking at the site before logging in differs from the number of stories shown after logging in. Take Papatoad for instance, 79 stories if not logged in, 98 stories after logging in. What is the reason for the difference ?

Ok. My account is set for 'Full Access' but the default setting for someone not logged in must be set for (I assume) 'Filtered Access' which is the other option I have in account settings. Guess that makes sense, to limit what someone who hasn't logged in can see.

I just checked the codes on Papatoad's stories and I can't see any code that would expect to be filtered. However, it may be something like violent and or revenge could be filters on that first page. I don't know, maybe Lazeez will chime in at some point, but he has a lot on his plate right now.

The stories on the site have a setting whether to show them to a search engine like google or not show them.
Stories that are under 3KB are hidden from search engines as search engines tag them 'Low Quality' and that downgrades the general site quality.
A solution to this problem is to not list those stories for not logged in users like search engines.
Papatoad has many short stories in the 2KB range. So they're not counted when you're not logged in.
