Increase font size on story pages

Switch Blayde ๐Ÿšซ

I'm sure this exists, but I can't find it.

As I've said, I'm currently having vision problems and need to increase the size of the font on my small MacBook Pro screen. I use the cmd/+ (a couple of times) to accomplish that, but it carries over to other browser windows. So if I increase the font size when reading a story and then go to this Forum, the font is too large and I have to use the cmd/- to reduce it. Then when I go back to a story it's too small and I have to again use the cmd/+. Also, since the font size changed, remembering the scroll location is incorrect.

I would like to set a larger font size for the stories I read. I went to My Account and everything I tried didn't seem to work. Then I went to the Hamburger button on the story page and was able to increase the font size, but when I left and came back to the story it didn't remember it.

So where do I go to (not temporarily) change the setting for the font size on story pages? Where it will remember it until I change it again.

There are two places to do this.

On your Account Info and Preferences page look for:

Story Display Settings: [ Change ]
Story text looks like this

The change link will take you to a page where you can edit not only font size, but color.

On a story page, there is a hamburger button in the upper right corner. This opens a menu that will let you increase or decrease the text size. Not sure if this is transient or if it gets saved into your preferences.

That's where I went, but I now realize I changed the print size not the size. Changing the size is what I want. Thanks.

The hamburger change is temporary.

You can change the default font size in your browser. As you are having vision problems you might be better of when you have a bigger font on every page you visit, not just SOL. In Firefox: go to preferences. On the General settings page under "Language and Appearance" you can change the font and it's size. You can also set the default zoom size if you prefer that. I'm sure most other browsers can do this too.

You can change the default font size in your browser.

The font size on different websites is different and require different zooming. I use Mac's cmd/+ for that. On some websites I don't need it; on others I have to increase it 3 or 4 times. And the larger setting I read stories on is too large for the Forum.

Changing the font size for the story page in SOL did the trick.

If it's exclusively to read stories that is the best way.
Changing the default font size in the browser settings is better if you want to have every site with a larger font. The cmd+/ctrl+ works fine for individual sites and is quick and easy to use but it doesn't work that well on some sites. Some sites offer their own way to increase the font size.

I went into Preferences in Safari and can't find a way to increase the default font size.

I also clicked on the apple to do it at the Mac level and couldn't find it there either.

Seems like Safari and Apple do have some deficiencies :D
All browsers I know of can do this and most Operating Systems too. I suspect you're looking in the wrong places. I know nothing about Apple or Safari so I can't help you there.

@Keet

most Operating Systems too

I found it in the OS's System Preferences under Displays. You change "Default for display" to "Scaled" and then you get a choice how much bigger you want to scale it.
