So I shouldn't be uploading .docx to the Wizard?

TLDR: Yes, it's best to avoid .docx when submitting stories

I created the .docx importer because a lot of people it seems don't know how, or are too intimidated by the process, to export their files to html when there is formatting and copy/paste is not sufficient.

It turned out that just like Word's screwed up regular html exporter (not the one marked 'filtered'), Word's .docx format is just as stupid and there is no .docx (filtered) format.

For example for heavily edited documents, like ones that go from author to editor and back multiple times, you end up with stuff like:

< p>< i>< span style="font-style:normal">Text< /span>< /i>< /p>

or

< p>< b>< span style="font-weight:normal">Text< /span>< /b>< /p>

Our .docx importer sees the < i> and the < b> tags, but doesn't see the css cancelling them, so you end up with italics or bold on the site where you can't see it in Word. To handle this kind of formatting correctly you would need a full blown xml/css parser, which is not exactly a simple job that I can do and add this feature to the site.

So, the site's .docx importer is rudimentary and best be avoided if possible. It's there for those who absolutely need it.

Assuming you have a .docx file that has been heavily edited, saving it as a filtered HTML file (in word) will correct the problems of nested edits you described?
