Category Search sorting

This is more for you to think about rather than a suggestion.

At the bottom of the Category Search, there's a "Sort results by" pulldown to determine the order the results are presented. The default is "Name" which is as good as any other to make as the default. Under that is the "Sort order," the default being "Ascending" which makes perfect sense for results by name.

However, I would think "Descending" would make more sense for most of the "Sort by" options.

Name = ascending
Score = descending
Size = ascending
Downloads = descending
Date Posted = descending
Date Updated = descending

So maybe it would make sense for the default to be "Descending" rather than "Ascending." You'd still provide the option to change it, but what is checked without taking action would be "Descending."

Again, not a request but something to consider.

If Lazeez were to change the default order, without changing the default sort, that would screw up users who accept the defaults without changing anything.

In the classic theme, the re-sort table headers for the search result have those defaults.

But since there is one default for criteria and one default for order, then they stay as is.

I wasn't suggesting the order changes when someone changes the criteria. I actually thought of that, and thought that would be the best option (select Name and it changes it to Ascending; select Score and it changes it to descending), but thought that would be confusing (change one thing and the system automatically changes something else is confusing).

I simply thought the default order could change from "Ascending" to "Descending" assuming that most of the criteria options work better with descending. How many people want to sort by lowest score first? Or the oldest dates? Some might so they should have the option to change it to ascending.

It seems only Name and maybe Size clearly make sense to show results in ascending. Just think, if you had chosen "Score" (instead of Name) as the default, would you have chosen "Ascending" as the default?

As I said, I'm not requesting the change. I've been doing searches recently and not by name so the ascending sequence seems odd. But it's easy to change to descending.

As I said, it was simply something to think about.

I guess the authors whose story titles begin with a "Z" would like the change.
