Genre specific discussion groups

Vincent Berg ๐Ÿšซ

Just a random thought here, but I was wondering about Genre specific groups, rather than simply dividing discussions between "Authors", readers and "Editors". Say creating a "Sci-Fi", "Mystery" or "Erotica" group. That way readers, authors and editors of specific genres could congregate to discuss common themes, rather than each feeling relegated to specific areas (not that the current listings seem to restrict anyone anyway).

Initially, I'd suggest picking the largest genres on SOL, say "Sci-Fi" and "Erotica", and if those catch on, then we could subdivide them into more precise groups like "Do-Overs", "Time Travel" or "Incest". If they don't catch on, then introduce them as a "Beta test", so when they flop you can simply delete them and return to the current setup.

I don't agree about it for authors. Authors discuss writing regardless of genre.

I wish there were a forum just for commas. That way I could ignore it.

Hopefully the name of the topic would give you insight as to what it is like if it's about commas but then we go off on tangents so you could end up talking about commas in another thread one that you were interested in and then when it got to the commas you would get pissed but where would you draw the line about things authors should be interested in if not commas how about adverbs or how to develop plot or maybe some other thing you see the author threads should be what authors are interested and what's the difference between entering a comma thread in the authors one or many comma threads one for each genre thread.

No reason why you can't start such a thread within the authors group.

Not sounding like a popular concept. Guess that answers my question.

CW,

To me, it seems like an over complex way to do something that will fragment the forum excessively, while what you suggest is already possible to do within the current structure.
