Kindle App Metatag

johnn48 🚫

I noticed that when I've downloaded my last two stories to Kindle they've shown up in the app as the table of contents rather than the Title page. Thus I've no idea what the story is called in my library. They were just table of contents. Unsure whose responsible Amazon or SOL.

Kindle readers generally don't open books to the title page (whether from SOL or Amazon). It opens to the TOC , the first "page" of chapter 1, or the last read page (if you've had the book open before).

If you are looking at the list of books in your Kindle library, you should be seeing the title.

It's SOL's responsibility.

From the announcement until about 5 days ago, the .mobi files created by our new software had a bug that placed the contents table at the start of the file. So in kindles, the library display showed a bunch of lines.

I've fixed this bug few days ago, but I won't redo the problematic files as the only/easy way to do this is to delete all .mobi files from the vault and that means the old files created by the KindleGen software would be lost.

But the newer .mobi files show the title and author on the first page and they don't crash the kindle app on the Mac.

If there a way to have it check date/time stamps for when the file was generated and purge the vault entries from the relevant time frame?

Yes, but that would take writing a script and would not be the easy way.
