Why are there often fewer reviews available than the figure next to a book's star rating?
AJ
because clicking on a star only counts as a review while only entering text results in there also being a text review as well.
Thanks. I find it confusing because of the difference between number of text reviews and number of ratings.
AJ
You mean there isn't a couple orders of magnitude more ratings than text reviews? That would be odd. Simple minimal-effort ratings are far more common than marginal-effort text reviews in all cases, with the major exception of harsh reviews - people who're upset are more liable to vent.

No. If the site shows a review count, there should be that many reviews for readers to peruse. However it's showing a ratings count and calling it a reviews count.
As Bookapy grows in popularity (hopefully), I imagine the distinction will become more important.

Which would be similar to multiple online vendors practices. I don't see the issue.
Low(-to-no)-effort 'reviews' are still valid as people expressing their opinion of a product. That the vast majority of people are stupid and lazy should be no surprise.

I would be surprised if the vast majority of people are stupid and lazy. On this forum, for example, the vast majority of people are above average.
above average
There are several measurements of central tendency. They may be mean, median, or a la mode, or even an arithmetic average.
"These measures indicate where most values in a distribution fall and are also referred to as the central location of a distribution. You can think of it as the tendency of data to cluster around a middle value. In statistics, the three most common measures of central tendency are the mean, median, and mode."
Not sure what flavor of ice cream is used for a la mode.
Presumably the most fashionable one.
(Although typically, it's the worst instead, because nobody in their right mind would actually ask for that flavorless white crap.)
BTW, you forgot geometric mean.
Maybe they are in their left mind?
Such people aren't to be trusted. Even letting them live is probably a mistake
I said 'probably'.
I also note you said nothing to counter the first part of what I said.

I don't think you give them enough credit. After all, they carry life-threatening parasites for nine months at a time. And they don't even bite off the heads of their partners while mating.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a reason to trust.

That's not what I see on the UK shopping sites I visit most often. Typically there's a star rating which you can click on to see how many people allocated 1 star, 2 stars, 3 stars etc. And then there are the reviews, which have a different counter, if they're counted at all.
