Can't help noticing that connection times to SOL have slowed considerably over the past few days.
Is it because with more people not working or in isolation due to Covid-19 they are spending more time on here?

There a lot more people and the configuration didn't allow for enough servers to be spawned.
I changed the configurations today to keep up. Hopefully, no more slow downs.
A couple of evenings (UK time) recently I've been unable to connect to the site for periods of about half an hour.
This morning I got intermittent 504 Gateway timeout messages.
Would I be correct in thinking you've addressed the first issue but the second isn't your problem?
AJ
They're both the same issue.
When there are more users than expected, time-outs eventually lead to servers giving up when processes start taking too much time to get the resources they need.
I've increased the pool of web servers virtual machines allowed to be spawned, so now this is less likely to happen. It's a bit costly, but it's necessary.
I had been tracking story downloads, but it seems with the increase in users, searches went up more than downloads, so the servers were doing more without me noticing.
Hopefully, the new configs can keep things humming nicely.
Seem to be getting a large number of 504 Gateway Timeouts recently. Seems to come and go, but been getting a few this afternoon.
Seems to work again if I retry it, does anyone else get this, or just me?
Due to the self quarantines, there is unprecedented number of people accessing the site. They come in surges some time and the system reaches a certain threshold before it launches new instances of servers to keep up with the load.
To keep cost down, I keep the threshold a little high, and it causes these timeouts, but they're minimal.
So far this new much higher load hasn't brought with it more paying members yet, so for now it's back to losing money, which I prefer to minimize.

Not quite on topic, but;
Lazeez, is there any reason why an author couldn't place one or more stories on bookapy with any sales going to support SoL..?
Not exactly an instant moneymaking scheme, but perhaps every little helps..?
That's up to authors. I would never ask for such a thing.
Although, there are few authors who are adamant about NOT selling anything through Bookapy.

A simple way to achieve this aim is to place the books for sale on Bookapy and then list the PayPal account used by SoL as the recipient of the funds in the author payment section.

Thanks for letting me know Lazeez, I appreciate everything you do for us.
